The Harbour Online Community!
The online world is full of incredible possibilities, and we're excited to help our young people explore them safely!
Our online community aims to support young people, aged 13-18, in developing the confidence to navigate the digital world and discover all it has to offer—in a way that's right for them.
Why did we add an online provision to our in-person programmes?

Practising and designing a safe online community.
Exploring and demystifying new technologies: exploring questions like, "What is Artificial Intelligence and how does it work for me?" and "How can technology help me with some learning challenges or disabilities?"
Shaping their personal learning journeys: exploring how to use technology to consider learning and career options, tracking their progress, and planning their next steps.
Diving into digital creation: exploring gaming, coding, digital arts, and online collaboration.
Young people sharing their own skills and online passions with others in the community.
Connecting with outside experts following the young people's interests.
... and as always at The Harbour, our direction is led by the young people themselves —we explore whatever sparks their curiosity!
How does our online community look like?
Weekly Live 2 hours Sessions, to:
Hold Community Meetings where everyone has a voice in our shared plans and decisions.
Celebrate and review learning progress together.
Provide extra support for young people who do not yet have their Learning Agreement worked on in our in-person community.
After our meeting, young people are free to choose their own adventure:
---> Jump into a facilitated activity that was planned by the community and is facilitated by young people or adults.
---> Start their own projects or games with friends in a separate virtual room.
Adults will be on hand to offer support and check in on these rooms.
A Dedicated, Monitored Discord Server
Our Discord server is the perfect place to keep the conversation going. It’s open 5 days a week and is a private space governed by our agreed-upon rules and monitored by our facilitators, including a simple reporting mechanism, so we can ensure everyone feels safe and respected.
